Standing Buddha

This image depicts the Buddha standing with both arms lowered and the palms facing outward. In Thai Buddhist art, this gesture combines meanings of compassion, generosity, and reassurance. The open palms symbolize the Buddha’s willingness to give blessings and guidance freely to all beings, while also offering peace and protection.

The standing posture represents the Buddha’s active presence in the world—engaging with people, teaching the Dharma, and responding to human suffering.

Such images are common in Thailand, although the Buddha in this posture is often depicted with only one open hand (variations are common in Thai Buddhist art). These images serve as reminders of inner peace, moral balance, and compassionate action in everyday life.
