Vesak (Visakha Puja) is one of the major events in the Buddhist calendar, usually observed on the full moon of May. It commemorates the Buddha’s birth, Awakening, and passing into Parinibbāna.
According to our calendar, this year Vesak falls on Sunday 31st of May this year. However, Skiptvet Buddhist Monastery will celebrate Vesak early on Sunday 24th of May.
Additionally, the monastery join a pilgrimage walk with the Buddhist Federal of Norway on Saturday 30th May and Sunday 31st May. If you would like to participate please click for more information.

10:00 – All gather in the dāna sāla (main house)
10.30 – Rice bindabat (alms-round)
11.00 – Meal offering, followed by a communal meal.
12.45 – All gather in the sāla (meditation hall)
13.00 – Meditation following by Dhamma Talk by a senior monk (in Thai and English)
14.00 – Circumambulation 14.30 – Blessing and closing the afternoon session.
19.00 – Chanting & meditation (Meditation hall)
